Tropical Neurology

Broad objective and mission

The Tropical Neurology subsection of the Indian Academy of Neurology aims to bring  together professionals interested in tropical neurology in India. We do acknowledge the fact that     many of the neurological disorders in India are not seen in the more developed non tropical world. Disorder of infectious, nutritional, genetic, occupational origin etc. Hence the need of this subsection is to answer the unique tropical burden of neurological disorders which we see and treat.

The broad objective of this subsection is to promote knowledge, awareness, and understanding of tropical disorders and to facilitate strategies which are preemptive and preventive to the development of these in our country.

Activities

TROPICON- the annual conference is organized by members of the subsection in various parts of the country. These are important as local tropical issues are discussed in these meetings by neurologists who have experience in managing these.

Proposals for multi-centric and collaborative issues are also discussed.

Eligibility

All life members and associate members of IAN. Membership can be obtained by sending a draft of Rs. 1000/- to Treasurer IAN along with a request letter to the convener. The reverse of the checque should mention that this is for the Tropical subsection.

  1. Login to your account, through the Login option at the top right corner
  2. Your Member account will open. In the Member tab, select the 2nd tab – Add Subsections
  3. Select the subsections of which membership is required and click on Pay Now
  4. Payment portal will open with option to pay using credit card / debit card / NEFT
  5. Onetime subscription fee is Rs 1,000 + GST = Rs 1,180 per subsection

  • Update on latest information on diagnostic and management strategies in Neurological disorders of the tropics.
  • Exchange of research and recent information of disorders which may have epidemic proportions to devise prevetive strategies for the management of these disordres as these are unique to our setup and have tremendous health impact.
  • Present posters and papers of there research in the annual tropical subsection meetings.
