The Association of Indian Neurologists in America (AINA) and Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN) have joined hands to institute four (4) observerships of maximum 6 weeks duration in United States (US) in 2019 for eligible life members (see eligibility criteria below) of the Indian Academy of Neurology.

The Association of Indian Neurologists in America (AINA) would provide an allowance of US$ One thousand (USD 1000/-) only to cover costs of stay and the Indian Academy of Neurology would cover Economy class air-travel costs to the site upto a maximum of INR 50,000/-.

  1. US sites and Contacts
    The observerships would be available at the sites listed below. The names of the contacts at these sites are also provided. After selection, the candidates need to apply to the University Neurology Department through the AINA contacts mentioned below. Note that the IAN/AINA is unable to waive any institutional rules and regulations pertaining to the observership.

  2. Eligibility Criteria:
    1. Age < 40 years on day of application deadline
    2. Currently life member of IAN
    3. Membership of IAN for atleast 2 years (may include Associate Membership)
    4. Must not have received travelling fellowship of the IAN in past four years.
    5. Must have attended and presented a research paper in at least one National Conference of the Indian Academy of Neurology in the past.
    6. Receipt of Award or Presentation of a paper during the Award Paper Session of the Annual Conference of the Indian Academy of Neurology is desirable and will be given credit.
    7. Forms are available online at www.ianindia.org
    8. Applicants are required to arrange a signed letter of recommendation (on institutional letter head) by a departmental head/teacher/mentor/senior IAN member. This may be e-mailed separately to iansecretary@gmail.com by the deadline below.
    9. Deadline for application: Saturday, September 22, 2018; 05:00 PM.

  3. Selection procedure:
    1. Application will be scrutinized by Secretary, IAN for eligibility
    2. The selection committee shall comprise 5 members: including the President, IAN and immediate two (2) Past Presidents, IAN and 2 members from Association of Indian Neurologists in America (AINA).
    3. Selection will be based on merit with consideration of distinction and awards, papers published and presented, age, perceived need and matching of observership goals with site facilities.
    4. Decision of the Selection Committee will be available by November 01, 2018 and shall be final. No communication shall be entertained lieu of the decision.
