Who can become a member of the IAN?

We are delighted to know that you are interested in becoming a member of the Indian Academy of Neurology. Please select a category of membership that suits your background.


1. Life Membership (LM)

Neurologists/Paediatric Neurologists who have passed DM or DNB Neurology/Paediatric Neurology are eligible to apply. Those who have degrees from abroad can also apply, provided those degrees have been declared equivalent to DM Neurology/Paediatric Neurology by the Medical Council of India.


a. DM/DNB Neurology/Paediatric Neurology postgraduate:


Those who are currently perusing post graduate training (DM/DNB/MCI recognized foreign equivalent degree) in Neurology/Pediatric Neurology will be ‘Associate Members’ by payment of a subsidized fee of Rupees Six Thousand (Rs. 6000/-) only + GST (18%) as applicable. They will be converted to Life Members upon completion of their DM/DNB degrees and submission of proof to the Secretariat (Email Id: iansecretary@gmail.com )


b.DM/DNB Neurology/Paediatric Neurology postgraduates who registered as Associate Members before September 30, 2018 can upgrade their Membership to Life Membership by (i) Payment of additional Rupees Four Thousand (Rs. 4000/-) + GST (18%) as applicable only via the Membership portal and (ii) submission of proof of passing the DM/DNB exam.


2. Life Associate Member (LAM)

Those specialists, who have a qualification in allied neuroscience areas such as MCh Neurosurgery, PhD in neurochemistry, neurogenetics etc., can apply provided they have demonstrated a consistent interest in neurology.


3. Overseas Corresponding Member (OCM)

Overseas Corresponding membership is for those who are residing aborad and wants to join IAN as Member. Overseas Corresponding Membership is same as Life Membership of IAN. This is also valid for life time. In this the applicant needs to pay their membership fee in $USD (equivalent to INR Rs. 11,800 (10,000 + GST 18%) ).
