                                                                                        Mission Statement

Introduction

The Geriatric Neurology Section will aim to increase awareness of, and fosters interest and expertise in, issues of geriatric neurology in the areas of patient care, research, education, clinical learning, public policy, and will strive to enhance the role of neurologists in geriatric patient care.

Neurodegenerative Diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Lewy Body Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Vascular Dementia, and Strokes have huge implications for family caregiver and the healthcare system . So the Geriatric Neurology Subsection of Indian Academy of Neurology will play crucial role in, academic leadership in this complex and interdisciplinary field.

Through IAN subsection of Geriatric Neurology, the neurological community will endeavor to master, codify and transfer the knowledge and skills to effectively care for the elderly with neurological disorders.

AIMS

To raise awareness of Neurological Diseases of the Elderly population.

To involve and integrate Neurologists and Geriatricians interested in the field of Geriatric Neurology.

To collect and disseminate up to date scientific information on Neurological Disorders of Elderly useful for IAN members.

To stimulate development of research protocols and guidelines on management of Neurological Disorders of Elderly.

To organize annual CME on Geriatric Neurology under aegis of IAN.
