Scope and Mission

The Epilepsy subsection of the Indian Academy of Neurology is envisioned to provide a common platform for all IAN members with a special interest in Epilepsy...

This platform will allow sharing of new ideas and conduct multidisciplinary collaborative projects  that will provide data and  insights to develop evidence based practices in Epilepsy, specific to the Indian context.,

The subsection will be mandated to update and guide the general neurology fraternity and other allied medical and non medical fraternity about the current status of knowledge and practice in epilepsy.

The section will also collaborate with necessary governmental and non governmental bodies to improve awareness about epilepsy in the community and enable persons with epilepsy to easily access treatment.

Activities

Create comprehensive curricula for undergraduate medical teaching of epilepsy, as well as for primary health care doctors, paramedical health care workers.

Conduct regular symposia/workshops that are customised to needs of general neurologists, allied medical and non medical personnel, and primary care workers to update them on the practical aspects of epilepsy. 

Liaison with governmental and non governmental bodies to improve reach of primary epilepsy care and medications and thereby bridge the treatment gap.

Conduct symposia and workshops with international experts/bodies to share latest knowledge and techniques in the field of epilepsy.

Create special interest groups to drive collaborative research in various aspects of epilepsy.

Eligibility

Any life member or the life associate member of IAN.

How to join? 

  1. Login to your account, through the Login option at the top right corner
  2. Your Member account will open. In the Member tab, select the 2nd tab – Add Subsections
  3. Select the subsections of which membership is required and click on Pay Now
  4. Payment portal will open with option to pay using credit card / debit card / NEFT
  5. Onetime subscription fee is Rs 1,000 + GST = Rs 1,180 per subsection
